Mobility

Mobility is the ability to move a limb through its full range of motion. This is not to be confused with flexibility which is simply the length of the muscle. Mobility is a controlled voluntary movement through its entire functional range of motion.

There are many different types of stretches, which can aid in improving mobility:

  1. Ballistic stretching

  2. Dynamic stretching

  3. Active stretching

  4. Passive (or relaxed) stretching

  5. Static stretching

  6. Isometric stretching

  7. PNF stretching

There are also many different types of Myofascial release that can aid towards mobility, such as massage, foam rolling, Chinese Gua Sha.

Myofascial release (MFR, self-myofascial release) is an alternative medicine therapy claimed to be useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.
