Control What You Can

When you get a flat tire… do you get out and slash the other three? When you stub your toe on a corner… do you turn around and kick it with your other toe? Or when you drop your iPhone and crack the corner of your screen… do you crack the other corners for good measure? Of course not. What totally and utterly silly things to do. So then… WHY in the floof would you let shitty things happening around you turn into treating yourself like shit too? Why would you purposefully make a shitty situation worse? ⠀ Here’s the crazy part… You’ll let bad things that happen outside of our control negatively impact the things you can control. Someone cuts you off in traffic, and you’ll stop at the petrol station and buy a chocolate bar. (Because chocolate is the solution! 😉) You’ll get home from work, get into a fight with your kids or spouse, have a quick fix snack, and skip your workout… Listen. I’m not saying bad things don’t happen. In fact, life's going to be chockfull of bad, shitty, and negative things, a lot of which are outside of your control. But when bad things are happening, the absolute best thing you can do is double down on what YOU can control. You can’t always control a negative situation at work… But you CAN choose to still get your workout in once you clock out. You can’t always control upsetting stuff happening at home... But you CAN choose to stick with your nutrition plan and give your body the fuel it needs to thrive. The Bottom Line: Shitty things happen. Sometimes outside of your control. But when the going gets tough... Focus on what you CAN control. Cling to it.
